Sashiko, translated as “little stabs”, is a stitching technique that originated in Japan. This stitch was used to repair and reinforce fabrics, increasing the longevity of the textile.

Geometric patterns, some inspired by ocean waves and mountains, are created with a simple running stitch.

The repetitive act of slow stitching can be a very relaxing, almost meditative process. By connecting the rhythmic stitching gesture with our breath, we can calm the body and the mind.
